Choir Competition Rules and Guidelines
1. The choir is to be divided into the age groups outlined below. A church is allowed to present solely primary participants (that is, KG - Year 6) in the one choir, however they will be judged in the Primary Choir (Years 3 – 6) category even if some of the participants are in KG – Year 2.
2. Traditional Coptic Hymns are excluded.
3. The choir should consist of
six persons or more.
4. Singing of this year’s Festival theme is
mandatory in addition to any other performance made by each choir.
5. A maximum of
four hymns in a 20 minute time frame, excluding the Festival’s theme, is allowed.6. Developing a special presentation for the Festival’s theme will attract bonus points.
7. Points are given for the following:

Musical arrangement and musical harmony
-
Voice harmony and melody integration
-
Rhythm and beat commitment
-
New and original lyrics and melodies
-
A live band
-
Performances or actions according to the song being sung
-
Providing a video clip presentation (PowerPoint, Movie Maker, others…) during the performance
-
Entering, standing and exiting the stage in an organised manner
-
Having a uniform worn by all participants will attract bonus points.
Choir Age Groups:
Junior Choir (KG - Year2)
Primary Choir (Years 3 – 6)
Senior Choir (Years 7 – 12)
Adult Choir
Aims:
1. To get young people of the church principally untrained to discover the joy of singing hymns and to develop musical awareness and knowledge while learning good vocal technique and the art of professionalism.
2. To build fine character through friendship, team work, discipline, leadership, example and the teachings of our Lord Jesus Christ.
3. To stimulate interest within our church in participation in concerts, official functions and other related activities.
4. To maintain a standard of excellence throughout every aspect of presentation and performance thereby enhancing the quality within the choir and the Church.
